Cindy Crawford Releases Statement on Extortion Attempt

After a scary extortion plot involving a photo of their daughter bound and gagged, a representative for Cindy Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber has released a statement.

“A criminal complaint was filed today in federal court in Los Angeles by the U.S. Attorney’s office and the FBI stating that Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford have been the victims of an on-going extortion scheme.

“This crime has been committed by Edis Kayalar, an acquaintance of a former nanny employed by the family.

Mr. Kayalar threatened to sell an image taken of the couple’s then-seven-year-old daughter. There was no previous awareness by Mr. Gerber and Ms. Crawford of the existence of the photograph when they were contacted by Mr. Kayalar. The photo was taken by the former nanny as part of a purported game without the knowledge of the parents.

“The couple reported the extortion threat to the police and the FBI began a criminal investigation in the matter. Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford intend to pursue any and all available legal action against anyone who aids the perpetrator in the distribution or sale of the photograph of their daughter.”

Scary stuff…

cindycrawford_290.jpgCindy Crawford and husband Rande Gerber will probably think twice before hiring another nanny.

The couple has been the victims of an extortion plot involving a picture of their then 7-year-old daughter that was supposedly taken by their former nanny, reports People.

The Gerbers' daughter Kaia was photographed "in revealing clothing, bound to a chair and gagged," according to documents filed in U.S. District Court. The girl claims that the nanny took the photo as part of a "cops and robbers" game.  It was done without Crawford's knowledge.

Then, the photo landed into the hands of the nanny's friend, a male model named Edis Kayalar, who reportedly threatened to sell it or release it to the media unless he received $100,000. He was recently deported to Germany.

Kayalar, 26, has been charged with one count of extortion. The nanny hasn't been charged.

"Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford intend to pursue any and all available legal action against anyone who aids the perpetrator in the distribution or sale of the photograph of their daughter," said Crawford's rep in a statement.

Crawford, 43, and Gerber, 47, have two children: 8-year-old Kaia and 10-year-old Presley.

The nanny who took the "sexy photograph" of Cindy Crawford's underage daughter that fell into the hands of a suspected blackmailer could be in hot water, too.
A creepy German model was charged Thursday with trying to extort $100,000 from Cindy Crawford, using a provocative photo of the fashion icon's 8-year-old daughter as leverage.

Former supermodel Cindy Crawford went to the cops after a creepy German model named Kayalar tried to extort $100,000 from her in exchange for pictures he had of Cindy’s 7-year-old daughter Kaia “in revealing clothing, bound to a chair and gagged.”

The photograph is said to be stolen from Crawford’s former nanny who had been dating Kayalar. The nanny claims it was taken during a game of cops and robbers.

Kayalar said he saw the picture once at her apartment, an FBI affidavit says. The nanny told him it was Crawford’s daughter and boasted, “Do you know how much this picture is worth?”

According to Kayalar, he took the photograph along with a hand-written note that said, “The babysitter went crazy & tied everyone up& they need your help! Please.” (It’s the note she would have used as part of the prank).

Initially, Kayalar claimed he was broke and asked for a reward for returning the photo. Naturally, Cindy told the cops and the they picked up Kayalar and sent him to immigration who threw him out of the country. It didn’t stop there though, Kayalar is now trying to blackmail Crawford again by threatening to sell the pictures to tabloids if $100,000 isn’t wired to his German bank account. No money has been wired and the FBI is still searching for him.

Wait. Let’s go back to the cops and robbers thing. Shouldn’t the cops be more concerned with the nanny? The description makes it sound like Kaia was bound and gagged in sexy lingerie. I mean, I’ve never played cops and robbers before, but I’m pretty sure that’s not how it goes. Unless it is. In which case, any sexy ladies want to play a game?

For some people, being ridiculously, ridiculously good-looking is not enough. Edis Kayalar, a 26-year-old male model from Germany, has been charged with trying to extort $100,000 from Cindy Crawford and her husband, Rande Gerber, over a photo of their daughter "in revealing clothing, bound to a chair and gagged," taken by the child's ex-nanny as part of a "cops-and-robbers game." No word on weather the nanny was a disciple of Helmut Newton.

cindy crawford extortion plot daughter photo

A German model was charged Thursday with trying to extort $100,000 from Cindy Crawford by using a “sexy” photo of the supermodel’s then-7-year-old daughter Kaia “in revealing clothing, bound to a chair and gagged.” The picture, reportedly stolen from the Crawford’s former nanny, was simply part of an innocuous “cops and robbers” game the nanny claims to have played with the children. Yeah, that’s normal. The NY Daily News says

[German model and the nanny's ex-boyfriend] Edis Kayalar [initially] told Crawford and Gerber [back in July] that he was broke and wanted a reward for returning the photo, portraying himself as a “good guy.”

Gerber met Kayalar and Kayalar handed the photo over. Gerber gave him $1,000 for his “trouble.”

But Kayalar contacted the couple two days later, allegedly claiming he still had a copy of the photo and threatening to sell it to a tabloid for $500,000.

Crawford and Gerber went to the cops, who picked up Kayalar. He was turned over to immigration officials, who booted him from the country in September because he was here illegally.

Well, all’s well that ends well, right? Um, not exactly…

The couple thought their nightmare was over until Nov. 1, when Kayalar e-mailed them from Germany with new threats of selling the photo to a tabloid if they did not pay him $100,000.

Kayalar allegedly gave Gerber a German bank account number and routing information, saying the money should be wired within three days or the photo would be made public.

As of Thursday night, Kayalar had not been arrested. Authorities were searching for him in Germany.

Well, if you don’t want sexy bondage pictures of your second-grader on the internet, DON’T LEAVE THEM WITH FUCKING STRANGERS WHILE YOU GO GALLIVANTING AROUND EUROPE!!!! Just like you don’t leave your kids on the railroad tracks while you run errands and you don’t give them a dry cleaning bag and a handgun to occupy them while you touch up your makeup. Jesus Christ. Am I taking crazy pills? It seems so common sense to me! And for the record, I’m pretty sure that “au pair” is actually French for “shitty parent.” Look it up.

Cindy Crawford has become the victim of an extortion plot involving a photo of her daughter bound and gagged.

The supermodel and husband Rande GerberÕs former nanny is alleged to have taken a photo of then-seven-year-old Kaia tied to a chair and passed it on to suspect Edis Kayalar.

Court documents then claim Kayalar attempted to extort $100,000 from the couple and repeatedly threatened to sell or release the photograph to the media if they failed to pay.

In a statement, Cindy’s spokeswoman Annett Wolf said, “Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford intend to pursue any and all available legal action against anyone who aids the perpetrator in the distribution or sale of the photograph of their daughter.”

According to the documents, Kaia Ð who is now eight – told her parents the photo, which they had been unaware of, was taken during a Òcops and robbersÓ game with the nanny.

Kayalar has now been deported to his native Germany and if convicted of extortion, he could face up to two years in prison.

Cindy and Rande married in 1998 and they also have a 10-year-old son Presley.

Cindy Crawford and Husband Extorted Over Photo of DaughterIn another story of a desperate attempt to make money from a celebrity, Supermodel Cindy Crawford was targeted for extortion, over what I would call a bogus photo of her daughter Òin revealing clothing, bound to a chair and gagged.Ó Apparently the perpetrator thought the photo would make Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber look like horrific parents.

An allegedly opportunistic German man, Edis Kayalar, 26, who was recently deported back to Germany for an immigration violation, but not arrested was after $100,000 not to have the photo published. Supposedly the photo was taken by an aqquantiance of Kayalar, who was the couple’s former nanny. Reportedly the photo shows the girl, who was 7 years old at the time, bound to a chair wearing shorts and a T-shirt, according to court papers filed by the FBI. The daughter told her parents that the nanny took the picture as part of a “cops and robbers” game, according to an affidavit filed in the case. Kayalar has now been charged with one count of extortion. If convicted, he could face a prison sentence of up to two years. The nanny, who has not been named, has not been charged.

Edis Kayalar Mugshots Cindy Crawford Extortion Case Photos

German model Edis Kayalar was arrested, charged and deported to his home country after trying to extort money from former supermodel Cindy Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber for a picture of their 7 year-old daughter bounded to a chair and gagged while wearing revealing clothes.

The picture has been taken by a former nanny, who had been in a relationship with Edis, during a game of cops and robbers without CindyÕs knowledge. Edis claims he was first concerned the nanny might had been abusing the child so he stole the photo and later decided to find out if he could get in trouble for trying to sell it.

Rande paid $1,000 for what he thought was the original photo but when he continued to be extorted the FBI got involved and Edis was arrested on September 16, 2009, and deported to Germany for an immigration violation. Edis called Rande again from Germany (November 1, 2009), saying, he “had no choice now but to extort the victims for money because they had gotten him deported.” Edis may face up to two years in jail.

Cindy Crawford and her husband, Rande Gerber,Êwere targets of an extortionist wanting money for a “sexy” photo of their 7 year old daughter that he had in his possession.

According to a complaint filed by the couple Edis Kaylar called them and said he wanted to help them and that he had a photo of their daughter gagged, in shorts and a t-shirt, and tied to a chair. He also said the photo “just wasn’t right” and it “bothered him.”

The photo was allegedly taken by a nanny, who admitted it wasÊpart of aÊprank, without Crawford orÊGerber’s knowledge, and was taken from her apartment after meeting Kaylar at a bar. Kaylar also stole Crawford’s cell phone number while in the nanny’s apartment and a note that read “The babysitter went crazy & tied everyone up & they need your help! Please.”

Gerber then met with Kaylar who gave him a copy of the photo but told him he had kept the original with a friend for safe keeping and wanted money as a reward for returning the photo to him. Gerber admitted he payed him $1,000 for the photo, but Kaylar called him later and said the tabloids would give him $500,000 for it and demanded more money.

Crawford and Gerber alerted the authorities and Kaylar was deported back to Germany where he continued to harass them for more money and now has a warrant out for his arrest. All thanks to the nanny! I bet they screen their help better from now on.
