INDIAN WELLS, California (Reuters) - Tiger Woods will start trying to restore a reputation battered by marital infidelities at next month's U.S. Masters, the tournament which helped him become the world's most marketable sportsman.

2009 Australian Masters - Day 4

Well, that was a short break, wasnÕt it? Tiger Woods just announced that heÕll be playing at the Masters golf tournament next month. He released a very self-pitying (in my opinion) statement about how ÒAlthough IÕm returning to competition, I still have a lot of work to do in my personal life.Ó Translation: ÒI want to change the subject and get out of the house because Elin keeps screaming at me over the multitude of whores I have having crazy unprotected Ambien sex with.Ó HereÕs more:

Tiger Woods just released a statement saying that he will be playing at the Masters next month.

ÒThe Masters is where I won my first major and I view this tournament with great respect,Ó Tiger said in a statement. ÒAfter a long and necessary time away from the game, I feel like IÕm ready to start my season at Augusta.

ÒThe major championships have always been a special focus in my career and, as a professional, I think Augusta is where I need to be, even though itÕs been a while since I last played.

ÒI have undergone almost two months of inpatient therapy and I am continuing my treatment,Ó the statement read. ÒAlthough IÕm returning to competition, I still have a lot of work to do in my personal life.Ó

ÒWhen I finally got into a position to think about competitive golf again, it became apparent to me that the Masters would be the earliest I could play.Ó

Chairman of Augusta National Golf Club and the Masters Tournament, Billy Payne, told TMZ, ÒWe support TigerÕs decision to return to competitive golf beginning at this yearÕs Masters Tournament. Additionally, we support and encourage his stated commitment to continue the significant work required to rebuild his personal and professional life.Ó

Are you surprised TigerÕs already back to golf?

[From OK! Magazine]

IÕve always said that the golf industry needs Tiger so much more than he needs it, so itÕs no surprise that Tiger is being welcomed back to the sporting world with open arms. My prediction: Tiger will be up to hundreds of millions of dollars in endorsement deals and contracts within one year. That is, unless he eats on the golf course. Which could happen, I guess. One thing is for sure - this will be the most watched Masters tournament in history. Blech.

It is safe to say that lately Tiger Woods‘ name has been synonymous with drama.Ê For a very long time, thoughts of Tiger were golf related.Ê Well 14 alleged mistresses later, golf was completely overshadowed and the athlete we knew and loved became a stranger.

Say what you want about Tiger’s personal life, but no one can deny the magic he brings when he’s on the golf course.Ê Get ready for the magic to return because after a five month hiatus from golf and a stint in rehab, Tiger Woods is making his PGA comeback!

“After a long and necessary time away from the game, I feel like I am ready to start my season at Augusta”, Tiger expressed in a statement released March 16.Ê Yes! Tiger Woods will play in the Masters…now that’s golf.

Tiger and his family should catch a break from the paparazzi at the Masters.Ê The club only provides credentials to sources who have historically covered the event–so the tabloid journalists who have hounded the couple will not be in attendance.

The Masters kicks off on April 8th in Augusta and Tiger Woods will be along for what is likely to be a wild ride.Ê The pressure will definitely be on and he better live up to the hype because the world will be more inclined to forgive Tiger once he can again dominate the world of professional golf.

The game of golf is a game of concentration so we can’t help but wonder how he will be able to let go of the stress, assumptions, drama, 14 mistresses, rehab, loss of endorsements, and judgments.Ê For the sake of the sagging PGA, golf officials and sponsors are just some of the many who are hoping he can.

Do you think Tiger will be able to withstand the pressure?

tiger-woods[1](HMG) – Tiger Woods made it official today that he will return to golf next month at the Masters.Ê The Masters begins April 8.Ê After returning from rehab and seen working on his game in long practice sessions it probably comes as little surprise that Woods is ready to return to the PGA Tour.

“The Masters is where I won my first major and I view this tournament with great respect,” Woods said in a statement. “After a long and necessary time away from the game, I feel like I’m ready to start my season at Augusta.”

Tiger Woods Will Return to Play 2010 Masters But No Tournaments BeforehandWoods has not competed since Nov. 15 when he won the Australian Masters for his 82nd victory worldwide.Ê It’s previously been speculated that Woods will return in two weeks and play in the Arnold Palmer Invitational starting March 25, or that he would first entering in the March 22-23 Tavistock Cup, which will be played at his home course of Isleworth.Ê But in his statement, Woods said he regrets not being able to play in the Tavistock Cup and the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

I am very surprised that Tiger will not play in a warm-up tournament before competing in a major tournament.Ê The media spectacle that will follow his return is going to be enormous.Ê Recently Woods hired former presidential advisor Ari Fleischer, who now runs a sports communications firm, to help him with a strategy to make his entrance back on the PGA Tour.Ê Fleischer, has worked for George W. Bush, and had Mark McGwire as a client when the disgraced former slugger made his first public admission that he had used performance-enhancing drugs, so he knows a thing or two about handling adversity.

Five months after his infamous “car crash” outside his home and the stories that broke after that (you all know the ehmm details), Tiger Woods is again ready to swing the club. Tiger Woods will tee of at Augusta National in Florida on April 8.

Many people have speculated when he will return, some though it would be next week at the Tavistock Cup or Arnold Palmer Invitational, but in a statement Woods has confirmed his comeback will be at The Masters.

Of course the good people at Augusta weren’t late to release a statement as well. (This will probably break all visitor records). The Augusta chaiman says: “We support Tiger’s decision to return to competitive golf beginning at this year’s Masters tournament.”

“Additionally, we support and encourage his stated commitment to continue the significant work required to rebuild his personal and professional life.”

Best of luck Tiger and to the guys playing against him at The Masters. He won’t win the tournament, but he’ll make an impact.

Tiger Woods returns to golf for the 2010 Masters

Tiger Woods has announced that he will be returning to golf to play the Masters in April.

I’m pretty sure that’s why he apologized publicly when he did. There was enough of a buffer between then and now, right? Please. Shouldn’t this man be concentrating on his marriage, like he said he was going to do? A bit selfish maybe that he is returning so soon? I think so.

Woods official statement:

“The Masters is where I won my first major and I view this tournament with great respect. After a long and necessary time away from the game, I feel like IÕm ready to start my season at Augusta.

ÒThe major championships have always been a special focus in my career and, as a professional, I think Augusta is where I need to be, even though itÕs been a while since I last played.

ÒI have undergone almost two months of inpatient therapy and I am continuing my treatment. Although IÕm returning to competition, I still have a lot of work to do in my personal life.”

Hmph. Couldn’t stay away, could he? I am totally NOT shocked by this. Sadly, the Masters will probably be watched by more people this year than any other. Where’s a Happy Gilmore when you need one? Someone to take away the spotlight from this fool.

Do you think there will be hecklers? Protesters?
